Founded in 2019, Statrys emerged as a solution for companies frustrated with the complexities involved in opening a business bank account.

They offer multi-currency accounts, payment solutions, and competitive foreign exchange services tailored for SMEs, all through an online application process and platform designed to simplify the opening and management of business accounts.

The company has served over 3,500 clients, reached over USD 2 billion in total transactions, and facilitated 500M+ of FX volume.

We take a closer look at what services they offer, how much they cost, and whether they could be a good choice for you.

Statrys is an excellent choice for sole traders or smaller institutions with global operations centered in the Asia Pacific region.

However, it is geared towards small to mid-size businesses as it lacks certain enterprise-level features, such as global payroll and the ability to make batch payments.

Provided that the currencies the business trades with are supported by Statrys, businesses with international shipping, importing, and service operations can save their hard-earned money by avoiding high and regular FX fees.

Like all financial service providers, there will be positives and negatives involved in using Statrys - we've laid them out for you so you can be well-informed when you make your decision.

Pros

  • Support for multiple major currencies, including HKD, USD, EUR, CNY, GBP, SGD, JPY, AUD, CHF, NZD, and CAD.
  • Local payment in multiple currencies serves as a more affordable alternative for sending money internationally.
  • The Statrys business account can be linked with PayPal, Shopify, and Stripe.
  • The company connects you to a customer representative instead of an automated response system. Their customer service is knowledgeable, helpful and supports multiple languages.
  • The majority of accounts are opened within 3 days of application.
  • The pricing structure is fully explained and transparent, with no hidden fees.

Cons

  • Companies outside of Hong Kong, Singapore, and BVI can only apply for a business account if they are operating in specific industries with business links to Hong Kong.
  • The mobile application offers limited functionalities, such as card management (activation, topping up, locking, unlocking, canceling, and setting spending limits), making payments, and viewing business accounts.
  • It’s not possible to arrange and approve batch payments. Clients can only book payment in advance.
