Just like with other money transfer companies, BOSS Money charges a fee and exchange rate markup.
Exchange rates
BOSS Money only allows transfers from USD, hence we’ve analyzed the markup based on a transfer from the US, in USD.
We’ve analysed the actual rates offered by BOSS Money, not the promotional ones, and we’ve excluded USD/USD transfer corridors.
There's no USD to USD exchange rate applied, if you send 50 USD, you get 50 USD.
For each currency pair, we’ve looked at sending $100, $500, $1000, $2000.
This should give a clear and fair picture of how BOSS Money stacks against the competition.

It’s worth noting that the exchange rates do not change based on the transfer amount, meaning you will get the same rate for sending $100 or $5,000.
This is a very competitive offering in comparison to other money transfer companies.

BOSS Money charges a fixed fee per transfer, you can also benefit from a $0 transfer fee on your first 3-5 transfers depending on the countries involved.
Before diving deeper into the fees, similar to the exchange rates, we’ve collected all the fees for all available destination currencies from USD, for transfers of $100, $500, $1,000, and $2,000.
All fees are paid by the sender on top of the transfer amount, recipients always receive the full amount shown at the time of booking.

Bank transfers (ACH) can be delayed up to 3 business days, depending on when you made the transfer and any intermediaries involved, but this is due to how banks operate, not BOSS Money.

Bank transfers
With this option, you can use your bank account to make a transfer online. This option includes funding your transfer with an ACH, debit card, credit card, mobile pay, boss wallet, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Cash transfers
You can send cash in person at BOSS Money retailer shops across the US, or initiate a digital transfer and have funds delivered to a cash pickup location in the destination country.
These are two separate options, retailer shops are for sending, while cash pickup locations are for receiving.
Mobile wallet transfers
This includes sending money to supported mobile money accounts. These wallets will depend on the country, but a few examples include M-PAiSA and GCash.
Mobile top-ups
This is not a money transfer option, however, I think it's worth mentioning here.
You can send mobile top-ups to a prepaid phone directly from the BOSS Money app.
This is fairly uncommon and nice to see more companies offering it, along with Remitly and WorldRemit.

ACH
You can use ACH to fund your transfer. Where ACH is available, it is free to use, and you only pay the markup (beyond the promotional rates).
Debit card
You can fund your transfer using a debit card. Simply link it to your BOSS Money account and fund the transfer. Depending on the location, fees will range from $0.00 - $2.99.
Credit card
Credit cards are a fairly rare option for deposits (as it’s very expensive), however, you can fund your transfer using them. Fees will vary from $4.99 $60.00 per transaction (other than Senegal, which is free).
Apple Pay & Google Pay
You can also fund your account directly from your mobile wallet like Google Pay or Apple Pay.

That’s useful for me because I (and you) want to know what you are getting after the promo expires.
You would probably expect this from every money transfer provider, but you would be surprised. For example, OrbitRemit hides this information unless you sign up.
The app consistently gets new updates, features, and performance improvements. So far, the app has been getting 2-4 updates per month since launching in 2024.
