Money Transfer Company Reviews
We’ve found them to be faster on larger transfers. For comparison, a $10,000 transfer on XE to the UK will arrive on the same day.
The same transfer on Wise has an estimated delivery of 3 days. Although they are largely in line with Wise for smaller transfers.
The company is listed as one of the best ways to send money to friends and family, as well as buying goods overseas. The benefit of using XE for this, paired with its general speed, is simply the peace of mind it offers.
- Fast transfers for higher amounts in particular
- Ability to opt for a managed service if needed
- Access to historical data and rate alerts aids in planning and understanding if you are getting a good deal on a transfer
- No cash pickup in Australia and New Zealand
- No cash payment option
- Markup charged on exchange rate is less competitive than the cheapest options

Overview
Transfer fees: | $3 if sending less than $500 from the US or Canada. $4 if sending less than $500 from Australia or New Zealand. €2 if sending less than €250 from the EU. £2 if sending less than £250 from the UK. |
|---|---|
Transfer speed: | 1-4 days, but XE says the majority of their transfers are done within 24 hours, and some can take hours or even minutes |
Exchange rates: | Often between 0.4 and 1.2% above the mid-market rate |
Platforms: | Online and mobile app |
Payment methods: | Bank transfer, credit card, and debit card |
Delivery methods: | Bank deposit, and cash pickup in the UK, EU, Canada, and USA |
Trustpilot score: | 4.2 / 5 - 55,000+ reviews |
Exchange rates
XE’s exchange rate isn’t as competitive as Wise's.
They bill this as ‘the XE Exchange rate’ which is around 1 - 1.3% depending on the currencies you’re sending to and from. So for every $100 sent, expect to pay about $1.
The increased cost is however offset if you need to move funds quickly.
Supported currencies
XE supports 65 currencies, compared to the 70 of Wise. So not a huge difference. These currencies cover 170 countries around the world.
Ease of use
Like most online money transfer organizations, XE is also packaged in an app.
The app is intuitive and has some nice features like currency conversion. Adding and withdrawing funds is pretty simple as well.
Whilst we list XE as an online provider, there is an option to get support for managed services.
Other features
XE offers some additional l features that I like. These are currency monitors for up to 10 currencies and historical currency charts. You can set up measures for these to send you alerts or notifications. They also offer a business account option where you can set up batch payments, manage payroll and more.

XE money transfer scam -stay away-WARNING Don't use this company! After several successful transfers. This time, I sent the money and they received it. After 7 days with no reason that they would cancel it. I sent their compliance team everything they asked. I found my privacy threatened but sent them anyway. I asked for a supervisor or manager but was denied. They obviously hang onto your money as long as possible and after making money from it like interest. If the exchange rate amount is too high and drops after holding it then they cancel it. WARNING Don't use this company!
Currencyflow is one of the best-managed services, because of its competitive rates across major currencies.
The company sits a little further down the list as Regency FX offers a bit more confidence, with more customers and trading volume behind it.
- Large transfers to and from Europe are hugely competitive
- Very hands-on team available to help with your transfer
- Fewer currencies than XE, but covers most use cases still
- Focus on high-touch phone service, without an app, isn't for everyone

Need to enter email and phone number to request a quote. Don't want to spam my self with unnecessary email and calls. Better they just provide full conversion price first and if I am happy, i will register my details
When it comes to handling big international money transfers, we recommend the UK-based Regency FX.
They are one of our best choices for different types of large purchases. This includes buying property, mass payments for business, and milestone events.
The specialist nature of large transfers also allows for more insight into taxes and processes that you might need to consider.
They are the recommended provider in 32% of searches on our site where a managed service is the best option.
- Personal service that aids in the challenges of large transactions
- Ability to lock in rates with forward contracts ahead of milestone purchases
- Does not have a mobile app, just an online platform (although this is mobile friendly)
- Serves fewer countries than XE or Wise

Exchange rates
They are less competitive than Wise in terms of the exchange rate, as their markup is often above 1.5% (meaning they add 1.5% on top of the "real" exchange rate).
Also, they don't charge any fees for transfers. So the slightly increased exchange rate is partially offset by this.
Overall though, it is not the best option for smaller transfers.
Supported currencies
Regency FX supports 35 currencies in total, including core currencies like USD, EUR, and GBP. INR as an example is not supported by Regency FX, so there are some limitations to having fewer currency options.
Ease of use
RegencyFX is a great service if you're thinking about making a big transfer, like:
Buying property in another country
Receiving an inheritance from abroad
Moving your savings after retiring abroad
Each customer gets their own account manager. The account manager offers expert guidance for complex and high-value transactions.
This level of attention ensures that every big transfer is handled carefully and precisely. It takes into account any specific requirements or concerns.
Regency FX also has a user-friendly online platform that makes managing large transfers quite simple.
You can track your transactions in real time. You also have the flexibility to make transfers at any time of day or night. However, an account manager isn’t always going to be available if you make a transfer at an obscure time.
Other features
Offering large transfers means Regency FX can also cater to things like forward contracts, limit orders and stop orders.

Say they will give you free quote, make it seem all they want is your email but then once you provide that they ask for everything else too

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! In particular do not use James Low. There are a number of 1 star reviews on here all saying the same thing. They provide a rate, when quoting for the transaction, which is in line with (or better than) other FX services. They then, once funds are received, give you a rate significantly lower than other FX services. In essence shaving off as much as they can get away with. In my case I refused to accept the initial rate and they readjusted twice before I was happy to proceed. Even then the rate I had to accept was a good few hundred pounds lower than other FX services. In my opinion they, and in particular James Low, are running a racket not a legitimate FX service.

A very stressful experience. Their verbal quote was a lot higher than what they actually offered us once they had our money. On the Monday, Jamie at Regency FX verbally quoted us €1.1714/£, which was better than anyone else on the day. So we transferred our money to them, but by Thursday, he quoted us less than €1.14/£. The spot rate on Google had hardly changed and other FX companies were still quoting around €1.17/£. Fortunately, we were in no hurry to send the money so asked that they refund us if they couldn't get near €1.17. By Friday afternoon, Jamie quoted us €1.1647/£, which we reluctantly accepted (to reduce the hassle factor), which seemed to be about average when compared to other FX traders. Most of the initial reviews we had seen seemed quite positive, but when we looked further, we saw that there were others who had a similar experience.
